Post News:
Greetings fellow veterans and VFW Members,
Best wishes and hope everyone is in good health and spirits. Wishing everyone Happy Holidays! Drive carefull and be safe over the holidays. Membership is at 91.29% and growing.
Membership - We need to increase our membership. To do this we need to bring in new members, and once they join we need to include them in our activities, VFW Programs, and helping in our community. Hopefully this will keep them interested in what we do. I am trying for All American again this year. I will need the help of our current members to be able to do this. Without teamwork this will be impossible. We have a list of unpaid members on the board. If you know anyone on this list please ask them to pay early to help us with All American. If we all work together we can do anything. Thanks!
On 11 November, 2011, Commander Tim Beebe, Sr. Vice Commander Tim Wallace, and Jr. Vice Commander David Emigh laid wreaths at the WWI, WWII, and Korean walls at the Anniston Centenial Park.
On 11 November, 2011 Department of Alabama Sr. Vice Commander James Lorenzo was in the Birminghan Veterans Day Parade. He also received the Veteran of the Year Award from Governor Robert Bently at the Veterans Day World Peace Lunchon. Sr. Vice Commander Lorenzo wrote up a program to help Commanders at the VFW to have a guideline to better do programs for the VFW, and to better help us in our community. He has done many other things to include the VOVMC, VFW Riders, and the Patriot Guard Riders to escourt fallen Soldiers to be laid to rest. Thanks Jim!
On 11 November, 2011, the VOVMC, VFW Riders, and the Ladies Auxiliary was in the Anniston Veterans Day Parade. After the parade we had hamburgers and hot dogs at the VFW. Thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary, and all the people who helped with the meal. Again with teamwork everything turned out good.
On 12 November, 2011, Commander Tim Beebe, Sr. Vice Tim Wallace, and Chaplain Dave Nichols Laid a wreath at the German/Italian POW/MIA Cemetary Ceremony at McCllellan to honor the German and Italian soldiers buried there. The Ceremony was followed with refreshments at the ampatheater.
On 26 November, 2011 a Alabama/Auburn Ironbowl Game get together party was held at Post 924. Refreshments and a Chili Cookoff Contest was held. The winner was Ladies Auxiliary President Carol Lorenzo. Great Job Carol. A great time was had by all.

Greatings again everyone,
It looks as if we all made it through November and Thanksgiving safely. I am sure we all gave thanks for all our friends and family wherever they are. Also, I hope no one forgot our service men and women throughout the world defending our freedoms. They too would have liked to be home with their loved ones, but answered the call of their country. We do live in the greatest country on earth and should be very proud and thankful.
Of course, December is here and is the season to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We should always celebrate His birth, but place special attention on Christmas. I know that businesses advertise this as a major sales time and they are correct, but let us not forgot the true meaning of Christmas.
Tracy and I wish all of you and your families a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Year's. Keep Christ in Christmas and please drive safely. Remember our military personnel who are far from home and cannot celebrate with us. May they have a safe journey home to be with us soon.
Thank you,
Yours in Christ,
Dave Nichols

Ladies, the Christmas Season is here! Hopefully, we will all remember the reason for the season.
November was a busy month, and much was accomplished. Thanks to all who came out for Veterans Day and helped show all of our veterans how much they are appreciated.
On December 10th during our regular meeting, we will have our annual Christmas Party for Auxiliary members. Please bring a side dish to complement ham, or a desert, and a $10.00 gift if you would like to participate. I would like to invite all auxiliary members to join us. If you don't usually come to meetings, please join us for this special fellowship. The meeting will start at 1:00 PM.
Also, on the 10th at 11:00 a.m. will be the Wreaths Across America ceremony at the Fort McClellan Cemetary. This is a wonderful program that honors Fallen Heroes across the country. This is the first time our local veterans cemetary at Fort McClellan is participating.
On December 17th at 2:00 p.m. we are planning to have a children's Christmas Party at Post 924. If you can help, or have children who can attend, please let us know. We are inviting all 4 of our adopted units as well as boy scouts and girl scouts who helped on Veterans Day.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Yours in service,
Carol Lorenzo
Auxiliary President
